Billy’s Plan to Cure Dad’s Loneliness

Hey, guess what? I’m Billy, and I’m 8 years old! I’ve got a super big problem to tell you about, and it’s about my dad. He’s the best dad ever, but right now, he looks super sad, like a puppy who lost his favorite bone!
He sits on the couch all alone, staring at his phone, and doesn’t even laugh at my funny dinosaur jokes anymore. I think he’s lonely ‘cause he misses having buddies to talk to. Doesn’t that make you wanna cry?
But wait! I’ve got a crazy, awesome idea to fix it! I’m gonna be his best friend detective! I’ll drag him to the park to play catch with me, and we’ll meet other grown-ups there. Maybe he’ll chat with them about boring stuff like weather or coffee.
I’ll even draw funny pictures of him as a superhero to make him giggle like a silly monkey! And guess what? We can bake cookies together, too—chocolate chip ones, yum!—and share them with neighbors.
Did you know that kids’ perspective can help adults feel less lonely?
Won’t that be cool? I bet Dad will smile bigger than a giant clown soon! What do you think, huh? Let’s cheer him up together!
